Experts agree that the mental health repercussions of the pandemic will last long after the virus is under control. The event aims to enhance the public consciousness of mental health issues through a variety of activities and campaigns that continue for roughly four weeks. It was commemorated by the Mental Health America organization, which was then known as the National Committee for Mental Hygiene and then later as the National Mental Health Association before it got its current name.

Stress Awareness Month and May is Mental Health Awareness Month. At the close of Mental Health Awareness Month, we must commit to making this a year-round conversation. Patients often hear the clinical terms used by doctors and other professionals to identify the symptoms of mental illnesses but if someone hasn't gone through it, would they know how to recognize it?
